As I am sure you all know by now, we have a new rugby management team at the Club this year in myself as Director of Rugby, Darryl Williams as Team Manager and Andrew Gibbs and Jonathan Hawker as coaches. All four of us have spent a very significant part of our rugby playing careers wearing the blue and black Newbridge colours and are all glad that we now have the opportunity to put our experiences back into the Club. We are all very enthusiastic about what can be achieved here and all of us have a fantastic amount of enthusiasm and more importantly, a genuine willingness to take the Club forward.
As most of you, we too are all looking forward to the new season which is almost upon us...........................................

Adding his name to the Captains board for the 2nd time next season will be formidable back row forward Ross Coombs.
Ross has been an ever present in the Blue and Black Jersey over the past 2 seasons and has shown that he has all the qualities and leadership skills required to lead the current squad of players both on and off the field.
Speaking of his appointment, Ross said "I am absolutely honoured and over the moon to be appointed captain again. I know that this is a great Club and we have a great bunch of players with a good spirit in the camp and I am already really looking forward to the season." ........................

On Sunday 1st August, the Club will be holding a 'barbie' on the terrace which will be an opportunity for everyone at the Club to meet and greet both old and new players, committee and supporters.
There will also be a bouncy castle for the kids so lets all hope that the weather is kind and we can enjoy another great day at The Welfare.
Invitations for this event have been posted to all members so we look forward to a good response and hop to see you all there.

ANDREW Gibbs was delighted that he was able to make a late change of plan and return to the Welfare Ground as Newbridge coach.
Gibbs will be in charge of the forwards with Jonathan Hawker, who has also had two spells with ‘Bridge, responsible for the backs.
Yet the pair were happy to be planning for a season in Division Three East before the call came from their old club.
“It happened so suddenly,” said Gibbs, the former flanker who won six caps for Wales................

The Welsh Rugby Union has today released the league fixtures for the forthcoming season.
The fixture list looks even more competitive this season than last (if that wasn't tough enough.) Ebbw Vale join the league after being relegated from the Premiership last term, while Treorchy and Gilfach Goch were both promoted from 2 east. One other change sees last seasons champions UWIC move from East to West.
Our first fixture is at home when we host league newcomers Gilfach Goch at the Welfare. Fresh from there title winning season we are sure they will provide a stern test as they aim to prove that they will be more than able competitors at this level.................
